Commercial Solar Installation for Automotive Testing & R&D – Permian Basin, TX

NATiVE Solar delivered a large-scale commercial solar installation at an automotive testing and research facility in the Permian Basin near Fort Stockton, Texas. Designed to support energy-intensive proving-ground operations, the system provides reliable on-site generation across a geographically expansive site where durability, performance, and operational continuity are critical. The project reflects NATiVE Solar’s ability to execute complex commercial installations in remote West Texas environments under demanding operating conditions.

The system was engineered as a hybrid deployment combining carport and ground-mounted solar arrays to optimize land use, energy capture, and site functionality. NATiVE Solar served as the commercial EPC partner, managing engineering, permitting, construction, and commissioning to deliver a resilient, utility-grade solution aligned with long-term operational and sustainability objectives.

Commercial Solar System Overview

This commercial solar installation consists of two interconnected arrays designed for three-phase commercial service and long-term performance:

System Capacity & Configuration

  • Total DC system size: 330 kW @ 480-volt, three-phase

  • Array configuration:

    • 158.4 kW carport solar array

    • 171.6 kW ground-mounted solar array

  • PV modules: 600 high-efficiency modules rated at 550 watts each

The dual-array design enhances operational resilience while supporting continuous facility use and vehicle testing activities across the site.

Expected Energy Production & Carbon Impact

Based on ERCOT-aligned regional performance modeling, the system is expected to deliver consistent long-term energy production with measurable environmental benefits:

  • Estimated average daily energy production: ~1,310 kWh per day

  • Estimated annual energy generation: ~467 MWh per year

  • Estimated annual carbon offset: ~170 metric tons of CO₂e

This output supports reduced grid dependency while contributing to emissions-reduction goals across large-scale industrial and testing operations.

Why This Matters for Large-Scale Commercial & Industrial Operators

For automotive, industrial, and research facilities operating across large footprints, commercial solar systems must be reliable, scalable, and engineered for harsh environmental conditions. This installation demonstrates NATiVE Solar’s capability to deliver durable commercial solar solutions that integrate seamlessly with active operations while providing predictable energy output and long-term value. Projects of this type support energy resilience, cost stability, and sustainability across complex commercial and industrial portfolios.
