In 2014, engineer Eric Loften moved into his newly-built home in an emerging subdivision in Southeast Austin. One day while at Home Depot, he spoke to a young man that was working at an Enphase Energy kiosk. Enphase was there to educate locals shopping at the Home Depot about their microinverter products that convert the DC energy to AC for solar PV systems. Eric was intrigued, as he had been thinking for a long time how he could do his part in fighting climate change. With his newly-constructed energy-efficient house, he figured now was the time to be part of the solution.
Enphase connected Eric to NATiVE Solar, where he quickly got a quote for a 5.75kW Solar array utilizing twenty-three PHONO 250W solar modules with Enphase M215 microinverters. The system was installed, commissioned by Austin Energy, and has provided Mr. Loften with a sustainable life free of electric bills for the last 4 1/2 years!
Last December, Mr. Loften did even more to be part of the solution to climate change and added to his sustainable lifestyle by getting an all-electric car. Even with the added load of charging his EV every night, he has still been getting credits (NEGATIVE power bills) from Austin Energy!
