Texas outpaced California for the second time in three years in utility-scale solar installations thanks to over 6,500 megawatts being installed in 2023 alone, according to a report by Wood Mackenzie and the Solar Energy Industries Association. Wood Mackenzie further states that California’s residential solar market will struggle in 2024 after changes to net metering policies take effect, contributing to a projected 36% decline across all segments in the state. Nonetheless, rooftop solar in California is expected to maintain the national lead until 2026.
